Our Work

Cancer Support

Gippsland Women’s Health supports women experiencing cancer through the Gippsland wide Wig Bank and the McGrath Breast Care Nurse (Wellington).

Breast awareness and Breast health during COVID-19

The current COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges for every individual and organisation across Australia and the world.  It can be a time when our focus on our health may slip, and our breast health and awareness is no exception.

As Breastscreen resumes its services, it is important that women take charge of checking their breasts regularly and maintaining their familiarity with the normal look and feel of their breasts to ensure they are in a position to identify any changes as early as possible.

Please see this McGrath Foundation video below on checking your breasts. Note that whilst any change you find is not necessarily significant it’s important to consult your GP as soon as possible.

Navigating Breast Cancer during COVID-19

If you are newly diagnosed with breast cancer or undertaking treatment currently, our Breast Care Nurse has prepared a fact sheet to support women navigating breast cancer during COVID-19, with some helpful tips to reduce anxiety and aid coping during this uncertain time.
