Enabling Women Evaluation
Enabling Women is a rights based leadership program for women with a disability. Gippsland Women’s Health since 2013 has been in partnership with all six local councils, Expressions Australia, Gippsland Disability Advocacy Incorporated and Women with Disabilities Victoria to roll the program out across Gippsland. Since 2013, nine programs have run across Gippsland.
In late 2018 Gippsland Women’s Health undertook an evaluation of the program. The aim of the evaluation was to document the successes and learnings, and to make recommendations to assist the steering group to make an on-going plan for the program. The evaluation surveyed graduates of the program, facilitators of the program, members of the reference group and the Auspice organisation.
Eight recommendations were made to better guide the program into the future, which are being considered by Women with Disabilities Victoria. Overall the evaluation found that the Enabling Women program has had a significant impact on the lives of women in Gippsland and that it is of great benefit to the community.
