A year on from the #MeToo movement and women continue to speak out. The need for our work is ever present and our priority areas of Prevention of Violence against Women; Family Violence System Leadership; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Cancer Support continues. We have had a year of growth and with our partnerships, as we continue to reach out to Gippsland advocating for gender equality, respect, and greater choice.
A year of significant Victorian Government strategies released to strengthen and contribute to our priority areas of focus including Prevention of Violence against Women, Family Violence, and Sexual and Reproductive Health with all contributing to informing our ongoing work. Together with a change in leadership and other staff changes, we continue to partner and advocate for the Women of Gippsland.
This year had an increased focus on gender equity and women’s health advocacy. The recommendations of the Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence will bring about change significant for all. We saw the ongoing delivery of the Prevention of Men’s Violence against Women Strategy and the evaluation report undertaken by Federation University; the release of the evaluation report for the LifeSkills for Women Program; the regional Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy including the #AreYouCovered campaign.
