Women talk about incest. I didn't know if I would ever get through the pain after the issue of childhood sexual abuse surfaced for me and my sisters. When I was going through this intense crisis, I knew that I needed contact with other women who'd had similar experiences. I joined seven other women in an eleven week support group facilitated by two other incest survivors. After the group was over, some of us decided to publish a booklet of the writings and drawings of incest survivors.

BETRAYAL OF TRUST
SAS DAV
Vanessa Davies; Hilary Andrew
Women understanding and overcoming their experience of childhood sexual abuse. Though we are now seeing the breakdown of one of the last taboos - that of childhood sexual abuse - society still tends to take a narrow-minded view. We protect ourselves through denial, because the alternative is too shocking. A child can experience nothing so harmful as sexual abuse from those they trust. The legacy in adulthood can include low self-esteem, physical symptoms, fear, sexual and relationship problems, emotional upheaval and, for some, psychiatric illness and even suicide. Betrayal of trust uses real life accounts in a simple and straightforward way to help women begin to understand and overcome the effects of childhood sexual abuse.

IDEAS FOR THERAPY WITH SEXUAL ABUSE
SAS DUR
Michael Durrant; Cheryl White
Recent years have seen a growing awareness of the prevalence of sexual abuse and its impact on the lives of many of the persons who present to therapists. Having been largely ignored in the therapy literature for many years, sexual abuse is now an issue confronted by therapists who work in a variety of settings. At the same time, attendance at workshops on the topic and comments from therapists suggest that this is an area in which many practitioners feel ill-equipped. Sexual abuse, given such factors as its complexity, the seriousness of its effects, the web of secrecy that often surrounds it, its legal ramifications and the socio-political context within which it occurs, is often viewed as being somehow a different type of problem. This book discusses the many different ideas in the therapy of sexual abuse.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS about SEXUAL ASSAULT: 3rd edition Jun 2002
SAS GCA
Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault.
In June 1993 The Age newspaper ran a series of articles under the title The War Against Women. A number of male readers complained that such a title was misleading, pro-feminist, anti-male and misrepresented the nature of violence in our society. After the months which I have spent working at Gippsland Centre against Sexual Assault on this booklet, I would also have to say that the title War Against Women could be misleading. However, my reasons are quite different. In my opinion the title should rather have read The War Against Women and Children and what is occurring would be better described as a holocaust than as a war. I thought that I was unshockable and yet I have been stunned and appalled by the stories which I have heard.

SURVIVING SEXUAL ASSAULT
SAS AFI
Surviving Sexual Assault examines both the myths and facts of rape in a clear and consise format: through vox pops, professional opinions, interviews with women non-exploititive constructions. It recognises that the varied responses to rape are normal reactions to a most traumatic experience, and explores ways that councellors or a support person can assist the healing process. The video and the accompanying 24 page booklet have been produced for people close to the victim: partners, friends, family members or professional workers.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT: A TEEN PERSPECTIVE SERIES:
1. The Abuse of Power
SAS CHU
Churchill Media
Teens describe what sexual harassment is and how it effects them. Too often, sexual harassment is attributed to " emerging sexuality" or is regarded as an isolated incident. The range of behaviours that constitute sexual harassment is varied, many are identified on this video. When overlooked in the school environment, sexual harassment can produce feelings of fear, intimidation and hospitality. This program will help and encourage them to evaluate their own behaviour. The program also explains how traditional gender roles and stereotypes can support harassing behaviours and illustrates how new found power in typically submissive individuals may provoke this type of harassment.
